Welcome to Acadiana Senior Advisors’ FAQ page! We know Medicare can feel overwhelming — that’s why we’ve put together clear, no-nonsense answers to the questions we hear most often.
We help seniors and their families make confident decisions about Medicare. That includes:
• Explaining Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D in plain language
• Comparing Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans
• Reviewing Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans
• Enrolling you in coverage that fits your needs and budget
• Offering ongoing support for claims, billing questions, and plan changes
We also help with ACA health plans for those under 65, hospital indemnity coverage, dental/vision plans, and even pet insurance (because furry family members count too!).
Working with us costs you nothing — we’re paid by the insurance carriers. The difference is that we work for you, not them.
• We compare multiple companies and plans side-by-side
• We stay up to date on rate changes and benefit updates
• We help with claims and coverage questions after you enroll
Our job is to make Medicare simple, save you money, and be here for the long haul.
At least once a year during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), which runs October 15 – December 7. You should also review if you:
• Move to a new ZIP code
• Start new prescriptions
• Receive notice that your plan’s costs or coverage are changing
Pro tip: We send reminders and have an easy online system to review your meds and get a fresh plan comparison each year.
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans let you see any doctor that accepts Medicare and typically have lower out-of-pocket costs. You pay a monthly premium and little to nothing when you use care.
Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans usually have networks (like HMOs or PPOs), may include drug coverage, and sometimes offer extras like dental, vision, and gym memberships. These plans often have lower premiums but higher costs when you use services.
Not sure which is right for you? We’ll help you compare — no sales pressure.
You can apply to change your Medicare Supplement plan at any time of the year, though you may need to answer health questions (underwriting) unless you qualify for a special enrollment period.
Medicare Advantage and Part D plans can usually only be changed during AEP or if you have a special circumstance (moving, losing other coverage, etc.).
